Standards of Behavior These standards of behavior apply to everyone in the classroom- including me! 1. Be kind and respectful to everyone in the classroom, including yourself. 2. Respect the ideas and the personal property of others. 3. Always put forth your best effort at all times and stay on task. 4. Always do your own work. Never cheat or plagiarize. 5. Be prepared for class everyday, arriving on time and ready to learn. 6. Always follow directions when given. 7. Take responsibility for your actions when corrected. 8. Cell phones will be silent, off, and out of sight during class, unless Mrs. Martin gives permission to use them. 9. Pay attention and ask questions. Advocate for your own learning. 10. Unless otherwise instructed, please raise your hand before speaking and stay seated during class.
GRADING POLICY:
Students grades will be based on:
Common Assessments (tests) 50%
Daily, Quizzes, Homework 20%
Projects, ISN (Interactive Student Notebook),
DBQ’s (Document-Based-Question) 30% Total: 100%
Participation: Discussions and cooperative assignments will play a major role in daily class time. Students are expected to actively participate in all class discussions and activities to the best of their abilities.
ABSENT WORK / LATE WORK:
Assignments: Student assignments (including homework) should be completed and turned in on time and should be of good quality (neat, legible, well thought out). All homework is due at the beginning of the next class unless otherwise noted.
Late Work: All students are expected to turn in their work on the assigned day. Late or incomplete assignments WILL NOT receive full credit. Students will have one week (7 calendar days) after the assignment is due, to turn in any missing work, from the day the work was originally assigned, for a maximum grade of a 70%. After one week, the student’s grade will decrease by 10 points for every day they do not turn in the assignment.
Makeup Policy: If a student is absent, any missed notes/work/assignments will be in the blue absent bin, located in the front of the room. It will also be posted on Google Classroom. Students will be given 2 days to make up any work. After this, it will not be accepted. If a student is absent more than 2 days, they will have as many days as they were absent to make up the work without penalty.
If a student violates these standards of behavior, these consequences are as follows:
Classroom Discipline/Tardy Consequences:
1st violation: verbal reminder (What are you doing? What should you be doing? Are you doing it? What are you going to do to do it?)
2nd violation : peace corner
3rd violation: lunch detention teacher conference and phone call home
If unacceptable behavior continues:
4th violation: after school detention and conference with parent
5th violation: administrator referral
Tardy: Lateness will receive only one warning. All other unexcused lateness will need to be made up on students personal time (lunch/after school) Students are expected to come to class on time and prepared to learn.
* No one is permitted to leave the classroom during the first or last 10 minutes of class or during instruction (unless it is an emergency). * Absolutely NO food permitted in the classroom Note- If the student's behavior is dangerous, extremely disruptive, or brazenly disrespectful, the student will be referred to the administration and guardian(s) will be contacted.
