Digital La Belle Exhibition This "micro-site" from the Bob Bullock Museum brings the story of La Salle and La Belle to the classroom, with up-close images of artifacts, the ship, videos from the exhibits, and classroom lesson plans. Campfire Stories This section of the website breaks down some of the different groups of people important to Texas History, based on the terrazzo mosaic in the Rotunda of the Bob Bullock Museum. You can click on each character (Buffalo Soldier, American Indian, Texas Ranger, Conquistador, WASP, etc.) to get a brief overview of that group's history, as well as access to primary sources (photographs, documents, artifacts, and sometimes videos or oral histories). Texas History Timeline This timeline allows you to build a custom timeline, based on the same groups of people as in the Mosaic. You can see how all of the various groups interacted throughout the timeline of Texas history, or just find out (for instance) what Cattle Ranching history was, or conquistador history, etc. Interactive Artifact Gallery Examine curriculum-related Texas artifacts with an interactive gallery featuring hundreds of Bob Bullock Museum objects. We are constantly adding new artifacts to this digital collection, based on the exhibits we have rotating into the museum. Virtual Texas Capitol A clickable Capitol feature allows you to explore the buildings as well as their roles in Texas government. The Texas Story Project An authentic research and writing opportunity that encourages students to investigate and share their own Texas stories. This is an ever going oral history collection where people (adults, students, anyone) can submit a story about their family, their town, etc. The Portal of Texas History With the guidance of Texas History master teachers, the UNT Portal team has developed curriculum study guides that map materials from the Portal collections to the TEKS requirements for students studying Texas History in the 4th and 7th grades. Using the study guides, Texas History teachers can direct students to primary source historical documents that will dramatically enrich their learning experience. Texas Beyond History This site provides the best information on the internet about Texas. It is maintained by the The University of Texas. The Museum of the World The Museum of the World is an interactive tool created by Google and the British museum. There is a timeline that you can view which has artifacts from around the world, as well as information about those artifacts. When you click on the artifact, you will find textual information, audio about the object, and a GoogleMap that allows you to view where this object originated. Additionally, students can also take a virtual walking tour of the British museum through Google StreetView! What an incredible way for students to experience history! Hyper History This website has timelines categorized by topic and time period. The timelines have links to other websites that give further information about the historical people or events.
